It took two trips, a friend, my sister (one of them came on each trip), a few thousand curse words, a pry bar and multiple sockets, hammers, screwdrivers, ratchets, wrenches, and sidecutters, a couple straps, a couple jacks, one of the junkyard's engine hoists, and being soaked in 33 degree water, but I got it!
Now I need a new CV joint, a battery, a hood, a fender, a grill, and a bumper, and it's done!
Next weekend I'm hoping to put the transmission in, and then I can start putting everything back together. However, I may need to delay, as I might have to put in an oil pickup tube on my sister's 1993 Legacy wagon that weekend. It developed a loud clattering sound and showed the oil light on the way to school last week, and it's been parked ever since. I really hope it's not the oil pump. I've found posts about the oil pickup tube cracking, so I'm hoping that that's the problem. Of course, then I have to hope that the engine wasn't too badly damaged by oil starvation.

Nope. I need to get this thing on the road ASAP. Also, Subarus with manuals are so rare at the local junkyard that I can count on one hand the number of times I've found one.

The one in the pic I had to have shipped from NJ, there was nothing close by with less than 200k+ on it.
I had mine swapped in a day, but that was at the shop with a lift. Hardest part was getting the damn pedals in. Didn't want to have to drop the steering column.

Well, this one cost $170 with a 7 month warranty, and has like 166,000 miles on it, so I'm not going to complain. And I realized (assuming my measurements are right) that I have to have at least 26 inches of clearance to fit the trans on the jack under the side of the car. My jack stands are only 15 inches. Welp, time to build some platforms.
